Worship Services

We have several different services at St. Mary’s all of which highlight parts of the Book of Common Prayer and our Episcopal Tradition.  Some services have music, some are quiet.  We have services in the early morning and in the evening.  We encourage you to visit us for these different worship experiences.

Episcopal worship – Episcopal worship is guided by the Book of Common Prayer.  We desire to be a people who are guided by God, and we accomplish this by letting our tradition and liturgy order our lives as a reminder that God is our Lord and we are to follow his guidance.  The kneeling, standing and reading all work together to help us Worship God and submit to Christ as our Lord.  [For more information]

Holy Eucharist – The Eucharist is the central service of our worship.  This includes ministry of the word (reading of scripture, a sermon), prayers of the people and communion.

  • Sundays: The first and last worship services include a spoken Eucharist; the choir sings at the middle service(s).
  • 6:30 a.m. Wednesday Morning service is an intimate early morning service.  This is a spoken Eucharist.
  • 11:00 a.m. Thursday Morning service is with (optional) healing prayer – this is a spoken Eucharist with a time for laying on of hands and anointing with oil for healing for yourself or another.

If you are unable to stand or kneel to receive Communion, the priests will come to your pew to administer Communion there. We have an area of pews that provide a space to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers which you can find by asking an usher before the service.  [For more information]

Noonday Prayer – Is offered each Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel.  This is a simple service of scripture reading and prayers.  [For more information]

Compline –  Periodically, St. Mary’s offers Compline, a service of night prayers that generally lasts about 20 minutes in a candlelit church. St. Mary’s Schola (a choir specializing in chant) leads the service, and the congregation simply rests and joins in prayers offered on their behalf. This is a time of reflection to start your week. Check the St. Musical Offering page for a list of scheduled Compline services.

Evensong – Periodically, St. Mary’s offers a Choral Evensong, the choir takes a primary role in offering prayer and praise on behalf of the congregation. Check the St. Musical Offering page for a list of scheduled Compline services.

Funerals – One does not need to be a member of the parish to have the funeral at the church.  Please be in touch with any member of the clergy to report the death of a loved one. We are grateful for the opportunity to offer our prayers and assist family members to make arrangements for burial services. As people of faith, we know that Christ’s Easter victory has overcome death, but are still aware of the challenges, difficulties, and loss at such times.  [Description of Burial of the Dead] * To inquire about a funeral

Weddings – All weddings at St. Mary’s are celebrated using the Book of Common Prayer. Weddings are scheduled on the church calendar only after a conversation with the church office and one of the clergy.  Weddings are normally offered only for active members of St. Mary’s.  [Description of Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage] * To inquire about a Wedding
