More than 50 years ago, Frenchman Jean Vanier was inspired to take action after witnessing the poor living conditions at institutions for adults with intellectual disabilities. Vanier’s alternative home sparked a worldwide movement known as L’Arche.
L’Arche Greater Washington, DC is an inter-denominational Christian community welcomes people of all backgrounds to share life together, centered around four communal homes and 16 members who have intellectual disabilities, known as “core people.”
