Feel the Heritage – 24th annual Celebrate Black History Month in Arlington

Celebrate Black History Month at Arlington’s 24th annual Feel the Heritage Festival on

Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 1-6 p.m.

at Drew Community Center.

This FREE event will feature a variety of activities, including live music and dance, a “Hall of History” with photos and artifacts from Arlington’s historically African-American churches and organizations, free children’s activities, delicious soul food and a great selection of vendors.

This event is free but we are asking attendees to consider supporting the community by bringing non-perishable food donations for Arlington Food Assistance Center.


IMG_8172N2N Band: The N2N Band is an R&B/Motown cover band with an eight-musician membership. N2N’s members are equipped with quality skills and extensive experience which allows the band to produce quality music. N2N originated in Northern Virginia in 2002 with talented musicians who had twenty-plus years of experience performing live. N2N has performed numerous venues and functions throughout the DMV to include a Presidential Inaugural Ball.


KK 2014-08-30-0986KanKouran West African Dance Company: KanKouran West African Dance Company was founded for the purpose of contributing to the extension of the arts by introducing the essence of traditional African dancing and drumming to audiences; enriching American cultural heritage through the integration of authentic West African performing arts; and promoting intercultural understanding through education and the performing arts.

KanKouran was formed in 1983 and has established itself as a premier center for the study and performance of traditional West African dancing and drumming and as a communal home for artists and art-lovers throughout the African Diaspora. With members born in the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean, it is home to three performing companies: the Senior, Junior, and Children’s groups.


WordsmithWordsmith is a Hip-Hop artist and songwriter from Baltimore who has performed all over the DMV and around the country. His music is free of profanity, full of message driven content and his dramatic style is embraced by Rock, Pop, Alternative, even Jazz music audiences. His mission is to entertain and educate through a Message of Purpose, and always by example relate that message through clean, quality, and marketable Music for the Masses.
