St. Mary’s Annual Parish Weekend at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, Virginia, is June 9-11, 2017.
Join us on Sunday, March 19, to learn more about Shrine Mont and have a taste of Shrine Mont’s infamous apple butter, chicken and biscuits during the 10:15 a.m. coffee hour.
A parish tradition since 1986, the St. Mary’s Retreat Weekend is held each spring (usually the second weekend after Memorial Day) at Shrine Mont, a conference and retreat center of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. Shrine Mont is located in Orkney Springs, Virginia, a serene little town nestled at the foot of Great North Mountain in the Shenandoah Valley.
The weekend begins with dinner on Friday evening, continues with an adult education program on Saturday morning with a separate program for children, a lazy Saturday afternoon to do your own thing, the famous (or infamous) Saturday night event, and concludes with Sunday morning Holy Eucharist at the outdoor Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration followed by a down‐home Sunday lunch.
About a two‐hour drive from Arlington, Shrine Mont provides the parish family a special time to focus on rest, recreation, reflection and prayer . . . a respite from hectic lifestyles in a setting that is truly “a place apart.”
